![]() ![]() Maybe it's green hill, maybe it's something else, it's a tropical island either way, but it's weird that we apparently only seem to be tired of this specific tropical island. Highly doubt gameplay past what SEGA wants will actually survive long enough to be posted in this thread, so for now, this thread will serve as a way to discuss information regarding the game, as it has leaked through multiple retail outlets by now and been dumped online. This Frontiers level.well, to be honest I can't fathom a fucking thing about it. ![]() If we're looking for a departure from standard tropical island fare, then that game was just wearing the iconography while doing something almost completely unrelated, but without it I don't think nearly so many people would be as upset with the zone as they are these days. I didn't particularly like it in Forces, but it was more different in that game than the others, being a dried-out husk of itself, and one of the acts was mostly in a factory anyway. ![]() Like, I enjoy Green Hill in Generations and Mania. Yes, yes, they could just pretend it never happened and/or reboot the timeline altogether. I have to wonder how much Green Hill even matters when I see people basically saying it'll be okay as long as it's called something different, or doesn't have the same exact checkerboards. The question is whether or not the quality of the 3D level design will be on par with levels like Seaside Hill from Sonic Generations or Casino Forest from Sonic Forces. We know it's boost Sonic, we've known that for a while. Linear could just mean the status quo with Boost Sonic at this point, or it could mean you're just literally going in a straight line without having to do anything like in Sonic Forces.ġ-2 seconds of footage from 2 different levels is just not enough to determine what we're working with. Much like that survey leak, the picture is not. Its about their experience with the games chao garden, and looks similar to the survey leak that name dropped 'Starfall Islands' long before it was officially announced. I just really really REALLY hope they don’t pull a Lost World again. Forces level of linearity vs late Generations linearity is a fairly sizeable difference.īasically every single Sonic game since Unleashed was linear with regular Sonic, so I don't know what you're referring to here when you say "linear". For starters, the leaker posted a picture of the survey they had to take after playtesting the game. So instead of having to reinvent the wheel for the next Sonic game, they just got to polish on Frontiers’ framework: have a livelier open world/hub, create unique stages, add in a couple additional playable characters (yes I know I’m describing Sonic Adventure, shut up). Problem with Sonic team is that we now have varying degrees of what we consider linearity. Honestly a loooot of the boost games' level designs are super linear, just disguised by cool things happening (like the giant chomper in Modern Green Hill) I'm kinda surprised you aren't assuming levels that are mean't to be traditional boost levels aren't gonna super linear tbh. ![]()
